IMCPL Collection Enhanced by Grant from The Indianapolis Foundation

March 8, 2011

Approximately 6,600 titles supporting a wide range of patron interests will be added to the collection of the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library as a result of a $100,000 grant from the Library Fund, a fund of The Indianapolis Foundation.

The new titles will assist patrons in preparing for such educational tests as the SAT, GED, math ACT, and PSAT, as well as those relating to nursing. Practical nonfiction books will feature topics in sustainable living, healthy eating, the efficient use of architectural space, and do-it-yourself projects. Such materials have been in great demand as consumers look for ways to live smarter in today's economy.

Patrons also can learn to improve their computer and digital skills with new titles that focus on common software, digital photography, social networking and other technical subjects.

"This grant demonstrates The Indianapolis Foundation Board's belief that keeping library collections current is vital to library patrons - and to libraries themselves. Grants from The Indianapolis Foundation Library Fund are made possible through the very generous bequest of the anonymous donor whose gift created the fund in 1989, a donor whose commitment to quality library services and materials continues to inspire us," said Brian Payne, President and CEO of Central Indiana Community Foundation and The Indianapolis Foundation.

The Library Fund is a $25.5 million field of interest fund which has awarded $23.3 million in grants to eligible Marion County libraries, beginning with the first grants in 1994.
