IMCPL's KIDZ BIZ Workshop Preps Kids for 2011 Lemonade Day
February 28, 2011
Children in grades 4 - 6 can learn to build entrepreneurial skills with an eye on operating their own lemonade stands for 2011 Lemonade Day during the KIDZ BIZ Workshop on Saturday, March 12 from 1 - 4 p.m. in the Learning Curve at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair Street.
Entrepreneur Scott Jones
The workshop will feature fun and educational digital activities and tips from several local business leaders, including entrepreneur Scott Jones, widely known for his invention of the voicemail system and founder of the ChaCha question-and-answer website. Jones is spearheading Lemonade Day in Indianapolis and will inspire children to participate in Lemonade Day on Sunday, May 1 by owning and operating their own business... a lemonade stand.
Lemonade Day, presented by ChaCha, Ice Miller and The Indianapolis Star, is a free, city-wide initiative launched in Indianapolis in 2010 with over 7,400 children participating. In addition to presenting the KIDZ BIZ workshop, the Indianapolis-Marion County Public Library will serve as a community pick-up center where families can receive backpacks that contain everything a child needs to prepare for the Lemonade Day event. The backpacks contain one workbook for youth and one for an adult that can help a child start, own and operate a business.
Parents or guardians can register a child to participate in 2011 Lemonade Day and receive a backpack at the KIDZ BIZ Workshop. Registration requires a parent’s or guardian’s signature.
