Winter Holidays Schedule
All Indianapolis Public Library locations will be closed on Monday, December 24 and Tuesday, December 25 in observance of Christmas.
In addition, all locations will close at 5 p.m on Monday December 31 and remain closed on Tuesday, January 1 for New Year's Day, except the InfoZone which will be open on New Year's Day from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Indy Library Sister City Ambassadors Travel to Hangzhou, China!

Two representatives of The Indianapolis Public Library are visiting the Hangzhou, China Public Library through November 18 as part of the Sister City staff exchange between the two cities.

Public Service Librarians Ann Ricciardelli from Central Library and Sailan Liang from the Glendale Branch will participate in an exchange of best library practices and a comparison of problems, policies and programs. In September, The Indianapolis Public Library hosted two representatives from the Hangzhou Public Library who learned about local library practices and American culture.

Ricciardelli and Liang will blog about their activities and experiences which can be viewed at When they return to Indianapolis they will be available to recount their experiences with community organizations, the media and fellow staff.

A similar exchange has begun between Indianapolis the Cologne, Germany public library following the September visit to Cologne by College Avenue Branch Manager Nicole James. A Cologne library representative will visit Indianapolis in 2013 as part of the 25th anniversary of the Sister City relationship between the two cities.

The City's relationship with Hangzhou was established in 2008 as the fifth of eight international Sister Cities intended to strengthen international partnerships and create opportunities that make Indianapolis a globally-recognized, inclusive city. Other Sister Cities include Taipei, Taiwan; Monza, Italy; Piran, Slovenia; Campinas, Brazil; Northamptonshire County, United Kingdom; and Hyderabad, India.
