It's Super Saturday! Get Your Game On @ the Library!

January 6, 2012

Children and families are invited to gear up for the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis during an event filled with free football fun entitled, "Super Saturday! Get Your Game On," on Saturday, January 21 from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair Street.

Throughout the afternoon, families can take part in the "Super Scavenger Hunt" by using library resources to learn about and locate football trivia in all areas of Central Library. Participants can win prizes by filling out a game card available at the Information Desk in the Atrium.

Attendees will have an opportunity to win a $50 Barnes & Noble gift card by playing the "How Many Footballs Guessing Contest" in the Atrium. Simply guess how many footballs are in one of the Atrium's display cases for a chance at the winning prize.

At 1 p.m., adults can learn about upcoming Super Bowl events during "A Guide to Super Bowl Events" presented by Amanda Bocik of the Indianapolis 2012 Super Bowl Host Committee to be held in the Riley Meeting Room. Also at 1 p.m., young people are invited to the "Digital Football Experience" in Central Library's Learning Curve. They'll be able to go on stage in the Learning Curve's Green Screen Theatre to score a touchdown, kick a field goal or run on the gridiron. Another digital activity will allow them to create a custom football helmet design on the Curve's laptop computers.

The afternoon continues at 2 p.m. when artist George Flexman will present "Balloon Twisting" in the Atrium. The artist will create works of balloon art for children to take home.
