September 18, 2013 — Adults are invited to learn about resources related to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and receive assistance in signing up for the health insurance marketplace during the Health Insurance Marketplace Open House, to be held on Tuesday, October 8 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, October 9 from 2 - 4 p.m. at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair Street.
September 5, 2013 — Nearly 10,000 students at 20 local schools now have access to The Indianapolis Public Library's collection of nearly two million items as part of the Library's growing Shared System, an interlibrary collaboration that provides online circulation services and joint access to the catalogs and collections of member institutions.
September 4, 2013 — The Indianapolis Public Library is joining Angie's List and the Indianapolis Department of Public Safety to help keep Marion County residents informed of criminal activity and safety advisories in their neighborhoods.
August 9, 2013 — Nearly 60,000 children and families participated in The Indianapolis Public Library's 2013 Summer Reading Program, "Read Together, Right Now," the highest number of summer readers since 2004.
August 5, 2013 — Recent upgrades allow patrons to use smartphone apps at the Library's 57 self-check stations, where they can scan in their library card number directly from their phone or tablet for a faster and more convenient checkout process.
July 17, 2013 — Individuals who are chronically unemployed or underemployed will receive personal assistance to enhance their employment skills at Central Library downtown as a result of a $15,000 grant from the TCU Foundation to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.
July 15, 2013 — Local citizens will have their first opportunity to become part of the process that will chart the future course of The Indianapolis Public Library at a special launch event, "Yours to Create," on Tuesday, July 23 from 5 - 7:30 p.m. at Central Library, 40 E. St. Clair St.
July 12, 2013 — In an effort to improve availability for avid readers, The Indianapolis Public Library has increased the number of downloadable eBooks and audiobooks that can be checked out at one time from 12 to 25 items per library card. Also, individuals may now place holds on 20 downloadable items instead of 10. The Indy Library also has added over 600 interactive eBooks from Disney Digital Books to its regular eBook collection.
July 1, 2013 — It's not too late for children and families to register for The Indianapolis Public Library's 2013 Summer Reading Program, "Read Together Right Now!" continuing through July 27 at all Indy Library locations as well as the Beech Grove Public Library.
June 26, 2013 — On behalf of The Indianapolis Public Library Board of Trustees, Board President Jim Lingenfelter and Library CEO Jackie Nytes invite public participation in a six-month strategic planning process that will define the Library's role in the community for the years 2015 - 2020.
