The Big Library Read Comes to the Indy Library!
May 10, 2013
Become part of a global library book club by reading master storyteller Michael Malone's eBook, The Four Corners of the Sky, during the first international Big Library Read from May 15 through June 1, 2013.
Those with an Indianapolis Public Library card can join millions of eBook readers in the United States, North America and 25 other countries in reading Malone's novel of love, secrets and the mysterious bond of families. The book can be downloaded at no cost from the "eBooks & Audiobooks" link on the Library's website at www.indypl.org. Readers can then offer their comments as part of the Library's online Reader's Connection blog.
"I am thrilled to present my latest book to library members through this unique global eBook event," said Malone. "Public libraries have always been the champions of the faith that reading enlarges our humanity. Thanks to programs such as this, we now have access to the best of world literature in practical, easy-to-use digital formats."
The Big Library Read is sponsored by OverDrive, a global distributor of eBooks and audiobooks, and Sourcebook, Inc., a U.S. independent publisher. In addition to providing a shared reading experience for readers worldwide, the campaign is designed to demonstrate the popularity of library eBook catalogs to authors and publishers.
In 2012, more than 342,000 free eBooks were downloaded from the Indy Library's collection, compared to over 129,000 in 2011.
