Text a Librarian at Indy Library!
March 29, 2013
Library patrons can now send questions to librarians using the text message feature of their cell phones with "Text a Librarian" at The Indianapolis Public Library. It's a simple and tech-savvy way for library users to receive needed information while they're on the go.
As a component of the Library's "Ask a Librarian" online service, this new service allows patrons to send their reference questions to 317-333-6877. "Text a Librarian" is available during the same hours as walk-in or telephone library service, seven days a week, and is handled by Indy Library reference staff on duty. When the Library is closed, a reply is sent the next Library business day.
"Text a Librarian" is a free service, although standard wireless provider text rate apply. Wireless phone numbers are kept confidential.
For questions requiring lengthy or detailed responses, or to receive an immediate response during open hours, visit the Library's "Ask a Librarian."
