It's Time to Call-the-Fever!

July 22, 2016 — Children of all ages and families are invited to hear members of the Indiana Fever women's basketball team read their favorite stories in children's literature during "Call-the-Fever" on The Indianapolis Public Library's 24-hour Call-a-Story telephone line.

Winners Chosen for 2016 Indiana Authors Award

July 18, 2016 — Six writers with Indiana ties have been named winners or finalists of the 2016 Eugene & Marilyn Glick Indiana Authors Award, including a first-ever winner in the category of Genre Excellence.

IndyPL's Summer Reading Program Continues Through July 30!

July 7, 2016 — It's not too late for children and families to experience the joy of reading and be a part of Indiana's 200th birthday celebration during The Indianapolis Public Library's 2016 Summer Reading Program, "The Summer Reading Book Bash." Participants can register at any IndyPL location, including the Beech Grove Branch Library through Saturday, July 30.

IndyPL Receives 2016 “Library of the Future” Award

July 5, 2016 — For the second time in eight years, The Indianapolis Public Library has achieved national recognition as the recipient of the prestigious Library of the Future Award, presented by the American Library Association and Information Today, Inc. publishing company. The award was presented at the annual ALA Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida on June 26.

East Washington Branch to Reopen in Temporary Facility

July 1, 2016 — As the expansion and renovation continues at the East Washington Branch of The Indianapolis Public Library, limited library services will resume on Thursday, July 7 in a temporary facility approximately one block east of the branch at 2902 E. Washington Street. The East Washington Branch has been closed since early April during major construction and until reduced services at an alternate location could be arranged.

Local Ethnic Communities Highlight New Digital Indy Collections

June 28, 2016 — The histories of institutions supporting the local Burmese and Slovenian communities are among new collections added to Digital Indy, The Indianapolis Public Library's online repository of images and recordings of cultural and historical interest to Indianapolis residents, students and researchers.

Beech Grove Merger Celebration and IndyPL Summer Reading Kickoff!

May 27, 2016 — The entire community is invited for the official welcome of the Beech Grove Public Library into The Indianapolis Public Library system and to kick off the Library's 2016 Summer Reading Program on Saturday, June 4 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Beech Grove Branch, 1102 Main Street.

Library StoryWalk Opens at Ft. Harrison State Park

May 24, 2016 — On Monday, May 23rd, Indiana First Lady Karen Pence officially opened the Library's StoryWalk® at Ft. Harrison State Park where reading and nature come together. Students from the Fortune Academy and Holy Cross Lutheran School toured the half-mile path featuring installations of the picture book, "Woodpecker Wham" by April Pulley Sayre and illustrated by Steve Jenkins.

IndyPL's Summer Reading Program Kicks Off June 6!

May 20, 2016 — Children and families are invited to experience the joy of reading and be a part of Indiana's 200th birthday celebration during The Indianapolis Public Library's 2016 Summer Reading Program, "The Summer Reading Book Bash," beginning Monday, June 6 and continuing through Saturday, July 30. Participants can register at any IndyPL location, including the Beech Grove Public Library which will merge with IndyPL on June 1.

Beech Grove H.S. Yearbooks Added to IndyPL's Digital Collection

May 10, 2016 — The Indianapolis Public Library's online collection of full-text local high school yearbooks now includes those from Beech Grove High School that date to the 1940s. Viewers can enjoy class photos and information about clubs, athletic teams, faculty and school-related activities that can be freely accessed and downloaded from the Library's Digital Indy site at digitalindy.org.
