Public Invited to the Warren Branch Grand Reopening Open House!
November 25, 2016
The entire community is invited to experience the many features of the newly-renovated Warren Branch of The Indianapolis Public Library during its grand reopening Open House on Saturday, December 10 from 2 - 4 p.m. at the Warren Branch, 9701 E. 21st Street.
The event begins with welcoming comments from Library CEO Jackie Nytes and Indianapolis City-County Council members Lakeisha Jackson and David Ray, followed by the Silly Safari animal show for families, demonstrations of the Library's eBook Tinker Station and Job Center, and children's activities that include face painting, coloring station and holiday card station. There will be refreshments for all.
While touring the various areas of the renovated branch, individuals can collect stamps for a Library passport to turn in for a door prize bag.
The $1.1 million renovation to the 15,740-square-foot facility is the first such project since the branch opened in 1974. New features include more public seating, dedicated study and activity areas, and additional computers and power outlets for patron use. The branch's redesigned and more welcoming main entrance has been relocated to the building's south side to be closer to the parking lot. There's also a new drive-up drop box along the south side.
Within the building is a new children's programming room, separate collections for children, teens and adults, an expanded circulation area, and a marketplace for exhibits and displays that enhance the new interior design. The relocated community meeting room on the building's west side features a glass wall for more open lighting and newly-integrated audio-visual equipment.
