Preschoolers and an adult are invited to join the Marion County Health Department to explore fruits and vegetables through games, stories and activities. They’ll put on an apron and learn how to prepare a tasty and healthy snack! This program is made possible by Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation. This program will be held in the Learning Curve.
Macrame Bracelet Class for Kids on Wednesday March 21st at 2 pm, Registration Required by calling 317-275-4222
Children ages 6 and older are invited to use cotton fibers or paracord to create colorful patterned bracelets for themselves or as a gift. They’ll discover knot-tying techniques that can be used to create wall hangings, rugs, key chains and other pieces of functional art. This 60-minute program is presented by Art With a Heart. This program will be held in the Learning Curve.
Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis: The Musical Story World of John Williams on Saturday March 24th at 3:00 pm
Join the Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis for a family-friendly concert featuring the magical music of composer John Williams. It will include selections from Superman, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and more. Instrument demonstrations for children will be included. This free program will be held in Central Library’s Clowes Auditorium.
ISO Teddy Bear Concert Series: The Garden Symphony on Monday March 12th at 10:30 am
Preschoolers and early elementary students are invited for an introduction to the instruments of the orchestra through story, movement and live music played by members of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. The Garden Symphony is an original story written by Victoria Griswold that follows a ladybug’s search through the garden for her own special song. Those attending are encouraged to bring their teddy bears! This program will be held in Central Library’s Clowes Auditorium. Registration required for groups larger than 10, please call 317-275-4222.

Jim Gill’s Nationwide Campaign for Play on Thursday March 8th, 2018 at 10:30 am
Preschoolers and their families are invited to sing, clap, dance and sneeze along during this concert by award-winning musician and author Jim Gill. His distinctive music play creates the spirit of a family room in the concert hall and serves as an invitation to families to sing and play together. This program will be held in the Learning Curve.

Your Chime: Beginning Meditation Class for Kids on Saturday March 3rd, 2018 at 11 am
Children ages 4 – 8 are invited to join creator and author Olivia Roney for a reading and mindfulness class. She’ll read from the book, Your Chime, before the book becomes available to the public. Children also will learn a simple meditation practice that can be used to calm down and focus during this 20-minute program. This program will be held in the Green Screen Theater.
Hot Jazz for Cool Kids featuring Clifford Ratliff and the Indy Jazz Company
Sunday February 18th at 3 pm in Clowes Auditorium
Families with children of all ages are invited to this series of fun and educational performances by Indy’s leading jazz musicians held in Central Library’s Clowes Auditorium and hosted by the Learning Curve. The free programs are presented in association with the Indianapolis Jazz Foundation and Indy Jazz Fest and are made possible by Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation. This program will feature a performance by Clifford Ratliff and the Indy Jazz Company. Attendees will learn about the jazz heritage of Indiana Avenue in downtown Indianapolis.
Radial Art Design Class
Saturday February 24th at 11 am in the Learning Curve (Arena)
Children ages 6 and up are invited to explore design, balance, symmetry and art all while creating a Radial Art masterwork. They’ll use beautiful papers, patterns, rulers, markers and more to create their designs. This program will be presented by ArtLab. This program will be held in the Learning Curve.
Monday February 19th at 11 am in the CBLC
Children of all ages are invited to join the Learning Curve in the Center for Black Literature & Culture at Central Library for a storytime that celebrates the unique and vibrant experience of black childhood. They’ll also clap, dance and sing along to fun interactive songs as well as create a craft. They can look through the CBLC’s children’s collection and check out books for home. Children of all ages are welcome, but this program is geared to a pre-K to 3rd grade audience.
