Knitting for a Need

Knitters and crocheters are invited to use their craft to help those in need. Create a scarf, hat, mittens or gloves to be donated to Horizon House, the only full-service day center serving the homeless in Indianapolis. If you already know how to create, stop by the Library's Information Desk to get a ball of yarn to make something for the cause. Homemade items will be accepted until November 1.



Cret Building at 100: An Exhibit

This special exhibit celebrates the architecture, people and stories of the Library’s Cret Building that played an integral part in defining the city’s character 100 years ago and remains vibrant and culturally significant today. Eighteen full-color, illustrative and interpretive panels designed by RLR of Indianapolis showcase over 50 images and artifacts from Central Library’s Nina Mason Pulliam Indianapolis Special Collections Room. “The Cret Building at 100,” made possible by a generous grant from Katz, Sapper & Miller, will be on display around the balcony of the historic Simon Reading Room during regular Central Library hours.

Patrons can drop in anytime during this two-hour visit by the Library's traveling eBook Tinker Station, which is staffed by an eReader expert who can answer questions about the equipment and collection. The Station provides reliable and unbiased information about this growing technology. The Tinker Helpline is also available to call for answers to your questions at 317-275-4500. This service is made possible by Comcast Heartland Region, the ALA/Information Today Library of the Future Award, and Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

Learn the basics for having a work published, including the many resources and tools to help a writer succeed. Each session will be one hour, with an additional 30 minutes for book sales, individual questions or extended Q & A. Participants do not have to attend all four sessions, but it is recommended.
