Patrons can drop in anytime during this two-hour visit by the Library's traveling eBook Tinker Station, which is staffed by an eReader expert who can answer questions about the equipment and collection. The Station provides reliable and unbiased information about this growing technology. The Tinker Helpline is also available to call for answers to your questions at 317-275-4500. Author Robin Ligon-Williams: Africa Is Alive in the Black Indians of New Orleans

Author Robin Ligon-Williams will discuss her powerful ethnologic study, "Rhythm, Ritual & Resistance: Africa Is Alive in the Black Indians of New Orleans." Sourced from extensive interviews with Black Indian tribal members, curators and spiritualists, the book investigates and highlights the ‘embodied memory’ represented in Black (Mardi Gras) Indian culture and the enduring connection between indigenous Americans and enslaved Africans. The author has Hoosier roots and has been the Director Programs for the New Orleans Jazz Institute as well as the Creative Director at Garfield Arts Center in Indianapolis.
This program will be held in the Center for Black Literature & Culture at Central Library.
