Food & The Great War: Indianapolis in 1918

Visit the Indianapolis Special Collections Room on the 6th Floor of Central Library to view an exhibit that focuses on food propaganda in 1918. The exhibit highlights a section of the Library's World War One poster collection and points patrons to such Library resources as Digital Indy, the Historic Cookbook Collection, the 5th Floor Microfilm, Hathi Trust, and the National World War I Museum and Memorial. This exhibit is available for viewing during regular Central Library hours.

View the works of prominent local African-American artists during this 30th anniversary of one of Indy's most celebrated cultural events. This year's exhibit will feature selections from 11 "Shades of Pearl" spotlighted artists from past Meet the Artists events who have gone on to greater achievements in the art world. The exhibit can be viewed throughout Central Library during regular Library hours. Meet the Artists XXX is presented by the Library's African-American History Committee in support of the Center for Black Literature & Culture at Central Library. It is made possible by the Christel DeHaan Family Foundation, Dr. Michael R. Twyman Endowment Fund and Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

By the end of the class they will be able to explore Ancestry’s Learning Center; do a basic search of the Card Catalog, Historical Records and U.S. Census databases; open a Family Tree; collect records by printing, saving to a flash drive and emailing to oneself; and access genealogy learning materials through IndyPL eBooks and eMagazines. Before taking this class, participants should have experience using a computer and websites.
