Visit the Nina Mason Pulliam Indianapolis Special Collections Room for an exhibit on letterpress "tools of the trade." The collection by printmaker and collector Dave Peat from "Pressing On: The Letterpress Film" includes specimen books, small toy presses, and Indianapolis printing artifacts dating to the 1800s. This program is made possible through a grant from Indiana Humanities in cooperation with the National Endowment for the Humanities and by Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

Learn how to read, watch and listen on a PC, tablet or phone, as well as search and download materials from the Library's extensive collection of eBooks, audiobooks, movies, TV shows and music. Patrons can drop in anytime during this two-hour visit by the Library's traveling eBook Tinker Station, which is staffed by an eReader expert who can answer questions about the equipment and collection. The Station provides reliable and unbiased information about this growing technology. The Tinker Helpline is also available to call for answers to your questions at 317-275-4500. This service is made possible by Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

Cloud Computing Using Google Drive

Google Drive is free and accessible from any device with an Internet connection. Learn to use Google’s free suite of products for creating, editing, and sharing documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and other types of files. By the end of this class, you should know how to edit and share documents and set up workgroup collaboration on Google Docs files, install browser extensions onto the Google Chrome Web browser, and use Google Drive to store personal files online. Before taking this class, to be held in the Computer Training Lab, you must be experienced using a mouse and keyboard and be able to get into your own Google Gmail account. If you do not have a gmail.com account, please arrive 30 minutes early to get help creating one.

As part of the launch of IndyPL Connect, adults are invited to learn about Google Docs, a word processor program that is part of the Google Suite of products that allow users to view and edit documents, spreadsheets and presentations together in real-time through a web browser or mobile device. Patrons also are encouraged to check out free Google Chromebooks and mobile hotspots, effective December 18.
