Those of all ages are invited for an all-day festival of mountain and hammered dulcimers, including workshops and performances at the Irvington Branch. A jam session and evening concert with Tull Glazener, Molly McCormack and Ted Yoder will take place from 6 - 8 p.m. next door at the Irvington Presbyterian Church. This event is presented by the Central Indiana Folk Music & Mountain Dulcimer Society. It is sponsored by the Irvington Community Council and the Library as part of the Irvington Summer Music Series.

One State/One Story: Frankenstein Lectures

As part of the "One State/One Story: Frankenstein" initiative designed by Indiana Humanities, adults are invited to learn more about the themes found in the classic novel, "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelley, as it turns 200 in 2018. The initiative is funded by a major grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities and a grant from The Indianapolis Foundation, a CICF affiliate, and is presented in partnership with the Indiana State Library and Indiana Center for the Book.
The topic for this program is "Shelley's Frankenstein: Why Honor and Will Matter." Explore how the human will works in making honorable decisions for ethical actions and what impact choosing honor, or refusing it, has on the social order of science and religion. This program will be led by Professor Jamey Norton.
