Visit the Indianapolis Special Collections Room on the 6th Floor of Central Library to view an exhibit that focuses on food propaganda in 1918. The exhibit highlights a section of the Library's World War One poster collection and points patrons to such Library resources as Digital Indy, the Historic Cookbook Collection, the 5th Floor Microfilm, Hathi Trust, and the National World War I Museum and Memorial. This exhibit is available for viewing during regular Central Library hours.

Before taking this class, you must be experienced in using the mouse, keyboard, and Internet. This class will be held in the Computer Training Lab.

Patrons are invited to learn how read, watch and listen on a PC, tablet or phone, as well as search and download materials from the Library's extensive collection of eBooks, audiobooks and digital music. Patrons can drop in anytime during this two-hour visit by the Library's traveling eBook Tinker Station, which is staffed by an eReader expert who can answer questions about the equipment and collection. The Station provides reliable and unbiased information about this growing technology. The Tinker Helpline is also available to call for answers to your questions at 317-275-4500. This service is made possible by Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

"Monkey's Jungle Jam" is an original story written by Victoria Griswold that tells the adventure-filled tale of a spider monkey's search through the rain forest for musical friends. Those attending are encouraged to bring their teddy bears! This program will be held in Central Library's Clowes Auditorium.

This year's exhibit will feature selections from 11 "Shades of Pearl" spotlighted artists from past Meet the Artists events who have gone on to greater achievements in the art world. The exhibit can be viewed throughout Central Library during regular Library hours. Meet the Artists XXX is presented by the Library's African-American History Committee in support of the Center for Black Literature & Culture at Central Library. ISO First Monday Concert: Music and Movement

Individuals of all ages are invited as members of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra perform music that celebrates the ideals put forth by Robert F. Kennedy and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The free concert will pay homage to the evening in April 1968 when Dr. King was assassinated and Senator Kennedy addressed an Indianapolis crowd in Kennedy-King Park that continues as a source of strength in the community. The performance will feature guest conductor Roderick Cox of the Minnesota Orchestra and soprano Lean Hawkins, a member of the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist Program at the Washington National Opera. Following the concert, attendees can participate in a group march to the Center for Black Literature & Culture for self-guided tours.
Self-guided tours of the CBLC will begin at 6 p.m., followed by snacks and refreshments in the Riley Room from 6:30 - 7 p.m. Doors will open to the Clowes Auditorium at Central Library at 6:30 p.m. for concert seating.

Adults are invited for a discussion of the book, “The Burden: African Americans and the Enduring Impact of Slavery,” a powerful collection of essays that offer a chorus of evidence that the burden is real. A panel of contributors to the book will share their thoughts on the issue and discuss how our nation can move forward. Panelists will include award-winning Detroit newspaper columnist Rochelle Riley, the book’s editor; A’Lelia Bundles, author of the book, “All About Madame C.J. Walker;” and Tamara Winfrey-Harris, social commentator and author of the award-winning book, “The Sisters Are Alright: Changing the Broken Narrative of Black Women in America.”
The discussion program, as well as an authors' reception and book signing, will be held in the Center for Black Literature & Culture at Central Library.

The Library presents a free service for unemployed or underemployed individuals to receive one-on-one assistance to enhance their employment skills. The session, held in the Computer Training Lab, will focus on job search strategies, interviewing skills, resume development, and instruction on basic computer skills. The TCU Foundation Job Center is made possible by TCU Foundation and Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

This class is for adults who have taken the Excel Basics class. are already comfortable with creating and formatting a spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel are invited to this intermediate class. Be the end of This class will enable you to use relative and absolute cell references, apply 3D formulas, create headers and footers, insert graphics and create graphs. This program is made possible by Friends of the Library through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation. This class will be held in the Computer Training Lab.
