Drawing Books for Kids

Drawing Fantastic Dragons

We have a lot of drawing books for kids at the library. You can find one for just about any interest you have. You can learn to draw NASCAR, forest animals, sea creatures, cartoon characters, buildings and much more.  How to Draw Dragons is a great place to start learning how to draw the action poses and details of fantastical creatures. Some of the books feature simple cartoon style drawings and others, for more experienced artists, go into great detail. Each one includes step-by-step directions though, so even if you are a beginner you can create some pretty amazing pictures. You can start right now by checking out an e-book with your IndyPL library card or come into one of our branches to check out print books. We also have graphic novels starring your favorite characters!

Diverse Superheroes

Batgirl New Hero of the NightIf you passed out a quiz and asked people to name superheroes, chances are the first names to appear on their lists would be Superman, Batman or Spiderman. You can see the three letters these names all have in common! If you start to make a list though, you notice that over the years superheroes have become a really interesting and diverse group. Some are children, some are women, some are Hispanic or African-American, and they are not all from fictionalized American cities like Metropolis or Gotham City. Listed below are books that tell the stories of a wonderfully diverse cast of superhero characters. Who doesn’t want to see themselves as a superhero? I do, and I can! Batgirl is a librarian!
