Read Right Now! EASTER

The Easter Egg Hoppi’s friends and neighbors are all working on creating eggs for an Easter contest. Each friend he visits is making a different kind of egg. It is fun to see the different ways Hoppi’s friends are making eggs. Some are predictable, like the egg made of chocolate, but others are surprising like an egg made of wood and a mechanical egg that has moving parts. Hoppi wants to make an egg to enter in the contest, but he gets sidetracked by kindness and becomes an Easter hero instead…at least mama Robin thinks so! Listen to more Easter read alouds below right now, try some fun online activities or look for books to check out with your library card.

The Science of Forecasting: It’s the Shadow Not the Hog

Groundhog's Runaway Shadow Men in top hats gathering around a burrow and luring a large rodent out to see if he casts a shadow to make a weather prediction is an unusual tradition! Odder still is that a sunny day, which will cast a shadow, means MORE winter, not less. That seems backwards!

Checking on one’s shadow is not a very scientific way to predict the weather, but Groundhog Day is a perfect time to talk about the science of shadows! Listed below are books and activities to help you explore shadows with your child.
