Stream Movies and TV free with your IndyPL Library Card

You can stream documentaries, feature films, foreign films, inspirational biographies, and television shows free with your IndyPL library card. We offer three different services for borrowing streaming movies: Hoopla, Kanopy, and Acorn TV.

If you have never used your library card before to stream movies or TV shows and series, here is how to get started:

Getting Started on Hoopla (movies, audiobooks, music, e-books, comics)

  • You can access Hoopla from any device, including iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, and Chromecast.
  • Visit hoopladigital.com to sign up with your library card.
  • Once you borrow a movie, you have 3 days to view it as many times as you like.
  • Your total borrows reset on the 1st of the month.
  • Once you have reached your 10 items a month borrowing limit, you will not be able to borrow any Hoopla content until the new month starts and your 10 borrows reset.

Getting Started on Kanopy (movies)

  • You can access Kanopy from any device, including iOS, Android, Apple TV, Roku, and Chromecast.
  • Visit indypl.kanopy.com to sign up with your library card.
  • Once you press play on a movie, you have 3 days to view it as many times as you like without using another play credit.
  • Play credits reset on the 1st of the month.
  • Once you have reached your 10 movies a month borrowing limit, you will not be able to play any more movies until the new month starts when you will be given a fresh quota of 10 play credits again.

Getting Started on Acorn TV (British Television and Film)

  • Visit RBdigital to create an account with your library card.
  • Find Acorn TV in the Entertainment Section.
  • Sign into Acorn TV with your RBdigital account information.
  • After you have signed in to Acorn TV, you can use Acorn TV with the following apps:
    • From any mobile device with the RB digital app: iOS, Android, and Kindle Fire
    • Stream on your television with the Acorn TV channel/app on Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire Stick, Chromecast
    • Once you have Checked Out a television show, you have a 7 day pass to view anything in Acorn TV.
    • You may use up to 3 passes per month.
    • Passes reset on the 1st of the month.
