Ten Indy Library locations are each receiving a limited number of STEM kits from Indiana University to distribute to patrons. The kits are designed for children from 3rd - 6th grade, and introduce basic engineering concepts to children and their families. Activities involve problem solving, developing ideas, and design and creation. The kits involve creating tools, “hacking” old toys, making robots, and more - and allow parents or caregivers to engage with kids in fun, creative, and challenging activities.
Each kit comes with thorough instructions and the skill level will prepare the user for a future, more advanced kit. Additionally, families will have the opportunity to provide feedback for a research project around STEM learning being conducted by IU Bloomington and IUPUI.
