A vast collection of read-alouds and online activities for kids created and presented by children’s book authors, publishers, and other organizations is available from The Indianapolis Public Library’s website. These creators are inviting young ones into their studios and work spaces to see how the words and illustrations in stories come to life.
Stories read by such award-winning authors and entertainers as Dav Pilkey, Cece Bell, Mo Willems, Neil Gaiman, Kwami Alexander, LaVar Burton and Dolly Parton can be live streamed at certain times, either daily or weekly, and are often accessible from an archive after the initial broadcast.
Also listed is the platform of each performance or workshop, such as Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Podcast or website, as well as links to printable activities and books found in the Library’s digital collection.
To access these free online activities visit the blog on the Library’s website, go to the “For Parents” section and scroll to “Read Alouds and Author Workshops for Kids @Home.”
The Library’s website also provides free research and study tools to support students and teachers with remote instruction, along with guides to help them navigate online resources.
