IndyPL Launches New Website!

Online visitors to The Indianapolis Public Library will find a newly redesigned, mobile-friendly website at that features an easy-to-use catalog and improved access to the Library’s many online offerings.

Based on feedback from more than 2,000 Library website users, IndyPL created a site that simplifies searches for books and materials, provides lists of new and recently reviewed materials, and connects users with librarians for reference help. The new “Download and Stream” section allows instant access with an IndyPL library card to the Library’s vast collection of eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, movies and music.

The website’s new blog includes posts for kids, parents and adults that contain information on useful book lists, new services, homework help, and more. An enhanced events calendar lets people know about upcoming author appearances, book discussions, story times, cultural programs and more for all ages. Events can be found based on location, age group and type of program. The calendar also allows for online program registration, including an email reminder sent to the patron closer to a registered for event.

Visitors also are now able to book study rooms at any Library location that has study rooms. Separate web pages introduce patrons to services and amenities at any of the Library’s 24 community locations and allow access to the seed library, bookmobile routes, and links to such services as assistive technology, language learning, inter-library loan, and Digital Indy community archives.

A convenient search box on the home page offers quick access to the entire website for those having trouble finding what they’re looking for.

As the first full redesign in more than 13 years, the Library’s new online home features significantly improved mobile responsiveness with a construction created as mobile-first that appeals to an increasing number of people who use the Library with their devices.
