Thanksgiving Holiday Schedule
All Indianapolis Public Library locations will close at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 21 and will be closed on Thursday, November 22 in observance of Thanksgiving Day.
November 12, 2018 — Local citizens are invited to celebrate a major milestone in the history of the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood when ground is broken for a new branch of The Indianapolis Public Library on Tuesday, November 20 at 9 a.m. on property located at the southwest corner of E. 25th Street and N. Sherman Drive (2434 N. Sherman Drive).
November 9, 2018 — The Indianapolis Public Library and Indy Pride, Inc. will partner to integrate the Chris Gonzalez Library and Archives into Central Library, as well as create a permanent LGBTQ+ Exhibit. The Chris Gonzalez Library and Archives is home to over 7,000 titles specific to the LGBTQ+ Community. The Chris Gonzalez Library and Archive is named after Chris Gonzalez, the community activist and founder of Indiana Youth Group who passed away in 1994. For over 30 years, the collection has been curated by Michael Bohr, who retired from this position in the summer of 2018. Upon much community discussion, it was determined the future of the Chris Gonzalez Library and Archives should reside at Central Library.
November 5, 2018 — Beginning Monday, November 12, The Indianapolis Public Library will roll out regular Bookmobile service to the Flanner House Community Center, 2424 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Street, allowing neighborhood residents to browse and checkout books and materials, sign-up for Library cards, and take advantage of new Google technology.
