The Indianapolis Public Library Board of Trustees meets at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month, with the exception of December, which is held earlier. Meetings will be live-streamed so they are viewable by the public unless indicated otherwise.
All board meetings are expected to be held in-person at the Library Services Center in room 226, until further notice. Some board members may join remotely via videoconference.
Public comment can be made in-person at each regular board meeting. Messages can be submitted to board members HERE.
The primary responsibility of the Board of Trustees Committees is to provide governance and policy reviews in the areas of diversity, policy, and human resources, facilities, and finance.
The Library will hold individual committee meetings in person and is no longer live-streaming these, unless indicated otherwise. Meetings dates/times will be added below as they are scheduled.
The Diversity, Policy, and Human Resources Committee reviews Library policies to assure compliance with accepted operating procedures and employment practices. This committee also provides oversight in the establishment of a diverse and competent staff at all levels throughout the Library system.
The Facilities Committee reviews plans and proposals related to the construction, maintenance, and security of Library facilities and properties, furnishings, vehicles, collection delivery system, computers, and technology infrastructure. This committee also provides oversight of facilities-related contractual services.
The Finance Committee works to determine the scope of appropriations for Library programs and services, facility maintenance, and new construction. This committee provides input in the creation of the Library’s yearly budget and tax rate, as well as oversight in the appropriate administration of public tax monies.
