In 1960, after residents petitioned for a permanent library, a storefront branch opened at 30th Street and Lafayette Road, the first branch in the system to be located in a shopping center. The current stand-alone facility opened in 1970 with 12,000 square feet to serve an ethnically diverse community.
A brand new building is coming in 2019!
A new 20,000-square-foot library will relocate the current Eagle Branch to a site at 3905 N. Moller Road. The larger facility will offer more spaces for children, teens, and adults, a computer lab, greater seating, and access to public transportation.
Construction on the $7.9 million project is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2018 with anticipated completion in the first quarter of 2019. The project architect is Browning Day Mullins Dierdorf.
