History
The Beech Grove Public Library has served the City of Beech Grove since 1951 when it opened at a storefront location. Its current building, dating back to 1953, has undergone four renovations and additions, the most recent in 2019. In 2016, the library merged with The Indianapolis Public Library to become the Beech Grove Branch, our 23rd branch location.
Certified Autism Center™
The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) has designated the Beech Grove Branch as a Certified Autism Center™ (CAC).
To earn this accreditation, Beech Grove staff completed autism and sensory training to equip them with the skills and knowledge to best welcome and assist autistic and sensory-sensitive Library visitors and their families. Beech Grove staff will also receive onsite reviews conducted by IBCCES to create sensory guides and provide additional recommendations for accessibility.

Hill, Sr., CEO, The Indianapolis Public Library. “That success sparked a strategic goal within our organization, inspiring staff at additional branches to deepen their understanding and expand their service. The response from our community has been deeply affirming. I’m grateful to our staff for their ongoing commitment to the training that helps us be a destination for autistic and sensory-sensitive individuals and their families.”
Dementia Aware Organization
The Beech Grove Branch staff completed Dementia Aware Organization Training to learn the basics of dementia and how to create an environment that supports those living with dementia and their care partners as individuals.

Kids' Intro to Dungeons and Dragons (D&D)

Join us at SRP kickoff for a kid-friendly intro to the popular tabletop game. This is a great opportunity to learn the basics of character building, the mechanics of in-game encounters, and let the kiddos roll some dice! Intended for kids and teens 10 and up, with little to no D&D experience.
