The Library provides world language materials in a variety of formats, including literature, nonfiction, children’s books, audiovisual resources, and digital content, to serve both native speakers and language learners in 25+ different languages. The collection fosters belonging and cultural connection reflecting the Library’s ongoing commitment to serving the diverse communities of Indianapolis.

OverDrive has e-books, e-comics, and graphic novels for adults, teens, and kids. You can read on OverDrive's Libby app, or in a browser. You can borrow up to 20 titles using your Library card. If you have never borrowed from Libby before, Libby directions and a Libby video tutorial are available, as well as OverDrive Support. To browse e-books and audiobooks use the Libby app on your Android or Apple iOS handheld device or go directly to OverDrive in your browser. Digital Collection for Children

LOTE4Kids is a digital collection of picture books (e-books and e-audiobooks) in over 70 world languages with an English version available for all books. The collection is for ages 3-8.


Need help? Ask a Library staff member at any of our locations or call, text or email Ask-a-Librarian. The Tinker Station helpline at (317) 275-4500 is also available. It is staffed by device experts who can answer questions about how to read, watch, and listen on a PC, tablet or phone.

Meet Your Neighbors

This program is an opportunity for citizens and professionals in the community to learn more about immigrants in Indianapolis. In addition, learn about Exodus' history and programs, and volunteer opportunities. Upcoming sessions include the Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, and the Sikh-Punjabi Community. Language Line

We are proud to offer over the phone interpretation for Library visitors who don't speak English. The Language Line gives Library visitors access to live interpretation services in over 240 languages to more easily obtain information, access resources, and navigate services at the Library. Ask at any of our locations for assistance.

Bunny Book Bags are grab-and-go bags of books for caregivers on the move. Read and return them fine free! There are also Baby Bunny Book Bags with board books as well as Spanish Bunny Bags. Learn English

Mango Languages is an interactive, conversation-based, online language-learning service. Each lesson starts off with a simple conversation between 2 people, usually a woman and a man, introducing each word or phrase from that conversation one by one. Learners can record themselves and compare their audio with the native speaker.
