Elizabeth N. Johnson Appointed to The Indianapolis Public Library Board of Trustees
INDIANAPOLIS -- The Marion County Board of Commissioners has appointed Elizabeth N. Johnson to The Indianapolis Public Library Board of Trustees.
Johnson currently works as a business librarian and assistant professor at Butler University. She has built a career in academia and librarianship, with experience in research support, instruction, and community engagement. Her previous roles include assistant librarian at Indiana University-Indianapolis, and work as a branch manager at The Indianapolis Public Library's Martindale-Brightwood branch.
In addition to her professional work, Johnson has been active in library leadership and community service. She is a member of the American Library Association and currently serves as president of the Indiana Black Librarians Network.
Johnson earned a Master of Library Science from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and African & African American Studies from Indiana State University.
“I’m excited to contribute to The Library in a new way and help ensure it continues to be a welcoming, relevant space for learning and connection across Indianapolis,” Johnson said. “Public libraries serve everyone, and I’m proud to support that mission and work to further it.”
Johnson’s term will start immediately and run through Dec. 31, 2029.
