Celebrate the music and culture of Mexico at the Indianapolis Mariachi & Folklore Festival at Central Library on Saturday, April 8, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This free, family-friendly music festival will bring together notable Mariachi & Folklore artists from the Midwest.

The Indianapolis Mariachi & Folklore Festival will include performances by dancers and musicians from Ballet Folklorico Mosaicos, Ballet Folklorico Sones Mexicanos, Ballet Folklorico Mosaicos Kids, Alexander Coleman Dance Company, Grupo Folclorico Infantil Macehuani, Danza Mexicana de Global Prep Academy, Mariachi Sol Jalisciense, Mariachi Band Zelaya, and Mariachi Sol Tapatío. Attendees can explore a community mercado with local vendors and organizations and enjoy The Garnachas Spot LLC food truck.

“Mariachi music has a rich history,” said Sakura Fuqua, immigrant outreach program specialist with The Library. “We are excited to bring together these popular artists as a celebration of culture, as well as a way to educate the community about this genre.”

Eduardo Luna from Arte Mexicano en Indiana agrees.

“Mariachi music and folklorico dance is how the new generation of Mexican Americans are retaining their heritage. The festival is a cultural celebration for everyone,” said Luna.

This event is presented by Arte Mexicano en Indiana and Ballet Folklorico Mosaicos in partnership with The Indianapolis Public Library.
