New York Times Bestselling Author Kimberla Lawson Roby will visit the Center for Black Literature & Culture at Central Library on Tuesday, August 9 at 6 p.m. to celebrate the release of her new book, Sister Friends Forever. Roby will introduce her book and answer questions from attendees. A book signing and book sale will follow.

Roby is the recipient of the 2013 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work-Fiction. In August 2020, she was named by USA Today as one of the 100 Black novelists you should read. Roby has published 28 books, including The Woman God Created You to be: Finding Success Through Faith-Spiritually, Personally, and Professionally, as well as her novels, such as Casting the First Stone, The Best-Kept Secret, and A Christmas Prayer.

Sister Friends Forever, which will be available for purchase on August 9, follows four lifelong friends as each faces a crisis in family, love, and forgiveness. Serena, still single, is questioning why love hasn’t found her yet. Michelle is engaged and ready to walk down the aisle—until an old flame strolls back into her life. Kenya is happily married, but at the same time, her husband’s ex-wife won’t allow them or their family to live in peace. And Lynette’s divorce from her cheating husband has her nervously dating for the first time in well over a decade. Their friendship is tested, yet sisterly love prevails.
