The Indianapolis Public Library is proud to announce the new Quick Reads Collection, designed to support adults and teens who are learning to read. The books in the collection feature basic reading levels and shorter page counts to help new readers find success and enjoyment while enhancing their foundational reading and English language skills.
Other benefits of the Quick Reads Collection include serving as a specialized resource for English language learners, reading teachers, and students enrolled at Indy Reads and other adult education providers throughout Indianapolis.
Deb Lambert, chief collection management officer at The Indianapolis Public Library, said that The Library consulted with Indy Reads while developing this collection, which features a curated selection of books below Lexile level 650 and Accelerated Reader level 4.5. These books are tailored with fewer pages and engaging, age-appropriate content across popular fiction and non-fiction genres, ensuring accessibility and enjoyment for all readers.
“The Quick Reads Collection reflects our commitment to literacy and inclusivity,” said Lambert. “Adults and teens learning to read shouldn’t have to read books geared toward children. This collection supports literacy goals while fostering a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment in reading. The goal is to provide encouragement and to spark the love of reading in teens and adults who don't read often. We believe every reader, regardless of their skill level, deserves access to engaging and relevant reading materials.”
The Quick Reads Collection is available at all Indianapolis Public Library locations.
