Pike Branch of The Indianapolis Public Library to Start Major Renovations on Dec. 23
The Pike Branch of The Indianapolis Public Library will start an extended renovation beginning Saturday, December 23, 2023.
The Branch is expected to reopen with a renovated entrance, updated restrooms, group study rooms, a comfort room adjacent to the children's area, a podcast recording studio, a dedicated teens zone, increased access to outlets for device charging, and updated mechanical and lighting systems. In addition, the Pike Branch will be seeking LEEDv4 Silver Certification for energy and resource conservation.

"Through our upcoming renovations, we reaffirm our dedication to offering a contemporary, inviting, and environmentally conscious setting for patrons. I look forward to witnessing the community's engagement with this revitalized space."
In early 2023, the Pike community was invited to solicit ideas for the renovation’s design and to share local community needs via a series of community meetings and a survey. The meetings were led by architects and designers from Luminaut and Four Point Design, as well as representatives from The Library.
The project budget of $2,275,000 will be funded by bonds approved by the Indianapolis City-County Council that are assessed without an increase in IndyPL’s current debt service tax rate.
Beginning December 11, the Pike Branch hold pickup location will be the Michigan Road Branch at 6201 Michigan Road. If a patron is unable to visit an alternate location or has transportation concerns, they may reach out to The Library’s Outreach Department at 317-275-4075 for home delivery services.
