The East 38th Street Library branch invites the public to a room dedication and celebration of Lawrence Township Trustee Steve Talley and his late wife Donna Talley on Friday, July 15 at 10:00 a.m. The couple shared a passion for unlocking children’s potential through reading. Since Donna’s passing in 2006, Talley has supported The Library in her name through gifts to The Indianapolis Public Library Foundation.

Activities will include a live animal show with Silly Safaris, a children's storytime, live music, and snacks. Steve hopes to inspire members of the community to find ways to give back.

“It has been a joy to extend Donna’s impact through gifts to the Library Foundation,” said Talley, who noted the renovation of the East 38th Street Branch’s children’s area. “Over the past 16 years, the Library has become an important part of my legacy, as well. Our community strives to nurture the potential in every child. I hope this event brings families and children together and inspires the community at large to find ways to give back.”

Those who are interested in supporting The Library can purchase a custom ceramic book tile for the East 38th Street Branch at a discounted rate July 15 through September 19. The ceramic book tiles, which can be customized in memory of a loved one, are a fundraiser for The Library Foundation. The Library Foundation partners with donors to enrich lives, foster lifelong learning, and engage our diverse community through The Library. For more information, visit the East 38th Street Branch or call The Library Foundation at (317) 275-4700.

"We are deeply grateful for Steve’s generosity,” said Library Foundation President Roberta Knickerbocker Jaggers. “It is an honor to steward his and Donna’s Library legacy.”

This event is made possible by the J. Steve and Donna D. Talley Fund.
