Links from third-party websites to the IndyPL website

The Indianapolis Public Library encourages other websites that share our intentions and principles to link to the Library website. We would appreciate being informed on any link to our site. The Indianapolis Public Library retains the right to withdraw this permission without explanation or notice if it is determined that such a link is inappropriate.

Links to The Indianapolis Public Library website or affiliate websites should be text-only and clearly identify the referenced resource. The Indianapolis Public Library strictly prohibits any suggestion or inference of endorsement or recommendation of any product or service. A third-party must ensure that nothing on its own site describes, or could be understood to imply, that any part of The Indianapolis Public Library website is part of the third-party website. Any page or file must be called with its URL displayed. The Indianapolis Public Library does not allow framing of its website.

Links from the IndyPL website to third-party websites

The Indianapolis Public Library website provides links to a number of third-party websites for convenience and information purposes only. These links have been selected using the same guidelines followed for selection of Library materials and they have been reviewed and evaluated by The Indianapolis Public Library content specialist, but they do NOT necessarily represent the opinion of the Library, nor do they imply endorsement of the content or association with the author. The Indianapolis Public Library has no control over the content of third-party websites nor is the Library responsible for the content or availability of third-party websites. The Indianapolis Public Library makes no warranty, express or implied, with respect to documents or other information available from the Library's website or from other third-party websites linked to the Library's website, assumes no legal liability or responsibility whatsoever for the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any such information, and does not represent that its use would not infringe privately owned rights. The Indianapolis Public Library shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with your use of any such content, products, services, or other materials available on or provided by the Library website, or any third-party website or resource. If a link to a third-party website is not functional, that link will be repaired or removed in a timely manner upon notice. For your protection, please refer to the terms of service and privacy policies of the respective third-party resources.

A request for a link or reciprocal link from The Indianapolis Public Library to a third-party website shall be evaluated by the Library content specialist for appropriateness according to established web content guidelines described in the Library website Content Selection and Review Policy.

The Indianapolis Public Library does NOT permit sponsored links or paid advertising.

Website Content Selection and Review

Content is defined as all material (including text, graphics, downloadable files, tables, audio, and video) and menu/directional icons, menu bars, listings, and indexes.

To help users of The Indianapolis Public Library website access the best information, it is the policy of the Library to link to selected third-party resources that represent the best resources available on the web.

Content shall be reviewed by The Indianapolis Public Library content specialists for relevance, accuracy, and value before being published to the Library website. All content, original, linked or referenced, that appears on The Indianapolis Public Library website, is evaluated according to the following guidelines:

  • Accuracy: Is the information of high quality, trustworthy, and fact-based?
  • Useful: Is the information practical, helpful, and relevant?
  • Currency: Is the information up-to-date?
  • Readable: Does the information meet the literacy levels of the target audience?
  • Presentation: Is the content professionally presented and of a reputable source?
  • Purpose: Is the content provided for information purposes only and not for the purpose of endorsing or selling products to users.
