Join us at the Library this summer for free workshops, programs, and great books for all ages!


Kids & Teens

Pack your bags and take your imagination to Camp Read S’more! Track the time you spend reading, listening to audiobooks, reading aloud to someone or having someone read to you. Read any book, graphic novel, magazine, e-book, or newspaper you want! Prizes are earned at 1 hour, 5 hours, 10 hours, 15 hours, and 20 hours of reading – plus earn a bonus prize when you complete seven fun activities. Read all the details.




Adults

If you’ve got a serious case of cabin fever, we’ve got a cure for that - Read Outside! Nothing says summer like sunshine and a comfortable spot in it to enjoy a good book! Visit us to browse yourself or get a reading recommendation from our staff. Read any book, graphic novel, magazine, e-book, or newspaper you want! Complete fun activities to earn a prize! Summer Reading Kickoff Events

Eagle
Wednesday, June 1 all day
Enjoy Stories, Songs, treats, crafts, giveaways, and prizes as we kick off the Summer Reading Program at the Eagle Branch! It is also our Branch Birthday! Meet Booker, the Library's mascot, and enjoy wonderful campfire storytelling with Celestine Bloomfield.

East 38th Street
Saturday, June 4 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
We'll have games, snacks, and giveaways (while supplies last). Booker, the library mascot, will visit us from 2:30 to 3:00 pm, followed by an animal show with Silly Safaris at 3:00 pm.

Garfield Park
Saturday, June 4 from 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Face painting (from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm), arts and crafts, games, and giveaways. Babies through teens can register for the Summer Reading Program during this event.

Glendale
Saturday, June 4 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Sign up for CAMP READ S'MORE! The Glendale Library's Kickoff rocks with a balloon artist, games, camp food, and more! See you there!

Lawrence
Saturday, June 4 from 10:45 am - 3:00 pm
Face painting and balloon twisting (from 11:00 am to 1:00pm), Silly Safaris (at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm), games, snacks, and giveaways (while supplies last). Babies through Adults can register for the Summer Reading Program during this event.

Pike
Saturday, June 4 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join us for face painting, meet native birds, create a nature journal, take home giveaways, play large games and enjoy treats as we kick off the Summer Reading Program at the Pike Branch! Providence Wildlife Rehabilitation will also be here to provide education on native birds!

Wayne
Saturday, June 4 from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Kick off the Library's Summer Reading Program at the Wayne Branch with arts and crafts, games, and giveaways throughout the afternoon. All ages can register for the Summer Reading Program during this event.

West Perry
Saturday, June 4 from 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm
Enjoy crafts, games, a camp sing-along, face painting with Cinamon the Clown, and more!

Central Library
Monday, June 6 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Kick off the Indianapolis Public Library’s Summer Reading Program at The Learning Curve at Central Library! We will have activities, giveaways, stories and songs, and a tasty little treat! Kids and teens can register for the Summer Reading Program during this event.

Martindale-Brightwood
Wednesday, June 8 from 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm Register
Join the Martindale-Brightwood Branch in kicking off the best program this summer: Summer Reading! We will have games, giveaways, snacks, and information on getting signed up for IndyPL's 2022 Summer Reading Program.

College Avenue
Saturday, June 11 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Kickoff the Summer Reading Program with the College Avenue Library! Join us for Spooky Campfire Stories at 1:00 pm, face painting from 2:00 pm -3:00 pm, as well as snacks, games, and prizes throughout the event.

Spades Park
Saturday, June 11 from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Join us at Camp Read S'More at Spades Park to celebrate the start of summer reading. Music performers, face painting, games and so much more!
